Abstract
Two maize genotypes were grown under CRD with three replications to evaluate the response of these genotypes to the foliar application of iron sulphate under saline and control conditions in the wire house of the Old Botanical Garden in UAF. The saline treatments were (0 and 150mM) along with iron sulphate (0 and 100ppm) application. The data regarded physiological and biochemical parameters like chlorophyll contents (a & b), photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, Sub-stomatal CO2 concentration, Carotenoid contents, protein contents, POD, root Ca, shoot Ca, root Na, shoot Na, root K and shoot K were recorded at seedling stage. The results showed that the salinity cause reduction in plant growth and development and the foliar application of iron sulphate results in improvement of recorded parameters.
Key words: Maize, iron sulphate, salinity
